Can’t Sleep!

by on Dec.21, 2009, under Personal Development

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.

~Irish Proverb

Welcome to a new and hopefully helpful post for those of you who suffer from not being able to sleep.  Whether that be just general insomnia or just can’t seem to get to sleep.  There are many, many of us out there and apart from being annoying, frustrating and of course tiring, not getting enough sleep is also not the best for your health and well being.

That being said I hope to share with you some of my tips for helping you with this very common problem.  Not being able to sleep or get to sleep can be caused from a huge array of reasons.  Stress is a huge factor as is anxiety, pain,

Insomniac

Can't Sleep...!

interrupted circadian rhythms (shift working/jet lag) and various other medical conditions.  Circadian rhythms are, in a nutshell, your body clock.  They tell us when we need to be awake and asleep.  Shift working and other factors like jet lag can put these rhythms out of whack making it difficult to sleep at usual times.

I suffer from insomnia, especially getting to sleep, I am a bit of a stress head to say the least.  Of course, not being able to go to sleep can be treated medically, and I do liaise with my Doctor, but I am not a huge pill taker if I can get away with it.  But there are others or so many people who just persevere with the problem.  Of course that in time will take its toll on you your mental state and body.  Having this problem and at times with quite a severitiy I stumbled upon something that has helped ease and some nights totally help me get to sleep reasonably and restfully.  I have found Binaural Beats.

Binaural beats have been around for some time, but it is the last few decades where they have been seen to help with relaxation/sleeping amoungst other things.  Very basically Binaural Beats are 2 beats played in stereo 1 beat at slightly higher or lower frequency than the other.  These beats act upon the brain, near the brainstem, specifically in the superior Olivary Nucleus.  Hearing these beats in stereo with speakers or headphones you can detect these beats, but the brain uses these and also can detect between the beats which is what helps with relaxation, getting to sleep and at some higher frequencies being more awake, refreshed or more active.  There  is much reading online that you certainly get get more indepth information about Binaural Beats and how they really work.  And I will share some links below, but this post is about what I have found useful for me and you may like to give these options a try for yourself.

I have always liked listening to the radio or music before trying to go to sleep, and with Binaural Beats you don’t really have to change this habit too much.  You may or may not have heard of White Noise, which is baically what your TV or radio sounds like between channels.  Well there is a colour spectrum of noise.  Mixing Binaural Beats with Green Noise is what seems to work and quite possibly a little easier on the ears.  Well for me anyway!  Green Noise is defined as normal noise or outdoor noise.  We have all heard these noises and of course there are many relaxation audio tracks around and you would have heard 1 in your time.  By mixing the 2 noises/sounds together you can combat or reduce insomnia.  I have a iPhone App which has Green noise looping tracks on it and you can add Binaural Beats to these tracks for added effect.  In this App you can also make up your own Green noise from the many audio tracks and set your own Binaural Beats as well.   For sleep or getting to sleep it is best to have low frequency beats.  You can also download Binaural Beats directly from the net as well.

I would have to say that since using the iPhone App – ER Ultimate Relax available at the App store – on occasions I have

Aaaahhhh...ZZZzzzzzz

Aaaahhh...ZZzzz...

found that I have moved into sleep quicker than the norm.  Now I am no expert and certainly everyone reacts differently to different things.  And I do recommend that you do your own research or reading on the subject and even speak to your own health professional,  but I am glad that I found out more about Binaural Beats and how they can help reduce the effects of insomnia and help get me off to Dreamland a little more often.

Sleeping is no mean art:  for its sake one must stay awake all day.

Wheel of Fortune = Gratitude

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.  ~William Arthur Ward

It is funny how much you notice when you sit back and NOTICE.  I guess along the lines and ‘take time to smell the roses’…  I have to be honest and say that I am at a lower point in my ever cycling ‘Wheel Of Fortune’.  I think it is safe to say that we all go through ups and downs, and if you like to dabble in tarot readings, I do a little for fun and also at times for the guidance that does appear, you will know that there is such a thing or card which depicts the life or ‘Wheel of Fortune’.  I am sure that mine is and, will soon move forward, through the lower points of a

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune

cycle at the moment.  We all go through those times when it seems that no matter what you do, or how you feel or remain positive and determined that there is a force that wants us to go through things the tough way, ‘The Bumpy Road’ etc.  I have noticed that I am going through one of those tougher times.  What do I mean… I guess where nothing seems to be happening no matter how much effort and thought and visualisation and positive energy I give projects.  I know that I have reached a point where I have had to stop and regather my thoughts and build back my strength and courage of my convictions so I can continue with the good, fun and new found work with my home business, and enjoy living life NOW.  Home business is certainly where I am at, where I want to be and definitely something that I enjoy, but there is or can be low points even when living life and working from home.  I love talking to people and hopefully getting the chance to help them, but they also need to be ready to help and at a point that they want to be enjoying all the gains from working at home.  I remain positive that that I am on my chosen path for this section or the rest of my life…  I am happy with all my decisions for my home business and also personally.  I have always seconded guessed myself and been critical of myself in many situations previously, but have seen changes in myself for the positive.  But, these sneaky little self-doubts and personal criticisms have found a weakness in my new found strength, and thus combined with the lower point of my ‘Wheel of Fortune’, have made me sit back and just breath and take stock.

So, if you are asking the question… I have be second guessing myself over the past few days.  Argh….!!!  :s   But enough is enough.  I have removed myself from the areas of self doubt and given more time to just being… and in a sense refreshing and revitalising my thoughts, persona and just ME in general.  And there are a few ways that I do this, and maybe you can relate to how you move yourself from those low points back into bouncing around and enjoying everything and anything the world, the day, friends, family or whatever have to offer.

First things first – GRATITUDE – oh yeah … GRATITUDE.  Believe it or not I always try and take time every day, usually in the evening when everything is quiet, to be grateful for something or many things from that day or even week.  This technique gives so much reality and focus back to things that have happened and more often happened for a reason.  Of course I am grateful for the good things that come my way.  As an example, I won about a kilogram of dice just yesterday and you would know from my interests and hobbies that I love dice, this is something that has happened as a true positive for which I am grateful, but I am also grateful for the timing of this boost, but also grateful to know that times change ALL the time.  I am

Gratitude

Gratitude

also grateful for the fact that my ‘Wheel of Fortune’ has rolled through a low point.  I am grateful that it shows me that I am stronger and have the courage of my convictions to push through and begin to prosper again or even more.  Gratitude is very underestimated.  Being thankful for the good, obviously, and the bad can turn some much more into your favour.  Being grateful soon turns our minds to the positives and our belief in people, what we are doing, life and so on floods back and everything seems to change or cycle through to the high point of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’.

Apart from gratitude, and also taking a step back from what I am doing and refocusing, I also find those things that inspire me or help motivate the positive thoughts that are having a snooze.  I listen to my most favourite music…LOUD (sorry neighbours !), this is also very good Feng Shui for yourself and your home, but that is a post for later.  I also watch the movies that I find inspiring or have a story, fiction or non-fiction, of overcoming adversity and gaining the end result for the character or characters.  I also take time out.  Working from home helps with this immensely.  Whilst still maintaining those tasks that need maintaining with my home business, I have time to go for a drive or walk along the beach and other mind and body revitalisers.  I am sure you have your own outlets for helping revitalise and refocus yourselves.

Training Scenes from Rocky IV – MGM Entertainment 1985

SO finally, I am sure that my ‘Wheel of Fortune’ is beginning to move again towards a new peak.  I remain positive and grateful and most of all believe that where I am at is where I need to be to reach my next life point.  What about you?  Be grateful for everything, things happen for a reason, push through your doubts or even the doubts of others and know that you are doing what you are doing because it is for YOU.  Live Life NOW…

‘Let us give thanks for this beautiful day.  Let us give thanks for this life.  Let us give thanks for the water without which life would not be possible.  Let us give thanks for Grandmother Earth who protects and nourishes us.’
Daily Prayer of the Lakota American Indian.

Be Confident & Magic Can Happen

‘Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy’

- Norman Vincent Peale

I would like to touch on the subject of confidence in yourself and what you do in this post.  Confidence is certainly one of things that some are lucky enough to have plenty of and others may need to work on.  In short confidence can be described as having trust, believing or being assured in something, self or someone. Being all said and done, confidence is certainly one aspect we all need and we all look for in people, circumstances and products around us in many different areas.  Being confident in yourself is not always easy, and I can certainly relate to that, but over coming a fear or issue in your life certainly gives you a boost in the confidence department…. doesn’t it?  You feel so much more in control and you show this as well in your body language, willingness to to more challenging tasks and sometimes, feeling of invincibility. Remember back to when you conquered something and the feeling of strength and confidence after finally taking the bull by the horns and completing the task.

Confidence at work certainly in what you do or say at work, is something we all have to take on and overcome to improve our working relationships or selling power or have staff trust and be willing to work alongside us.  I guess a great example of being confident at work would be those in the emergency services.  I don’t really even want to imagine a police officer not confident in what they were doing or saying. (Don’t get me wrong I am totally in awe of those who serve in the emergency services and truly grateful that they are there).  Just like if you are in a sales position and cannot confidently describe products and services befits and features to sell to your customer.  Having been in sales rolls previous to working at home online, I have seen first hand, the good that confidence can do for individuals and getting results.  I remember clearly on my first day in telecommunications, on sales floor, many customers would be attracted to me.  (I had never worked in telecommunications previous) But my body language, and ability to talk the talk even if in a very general way helped these customers have trust that they were being served by a confident and knowledgeable person.  It also served as a think on your feet reaction from me, and learning all the new aspects of this employment became paramount, but the confidence I showed help customers feel at ease and learning for me, easier.  Working at home with my home, I still need to have the confidence that I created and strengthened, as a sales employee.  If I am not confident in what I am trying to achieve by working from home, will I achieve it?  Maybe, but would the results be truly amazing?  Maybe not!  I need to be confident in the blog posts I share, and confident to answer questions or comments from readers.  I need to remain confident in my knowledge of online processes, blog posts, being able to talk to and assure and hopefully lead those looking for answers or ideas to find the processes that will help them.  I also want to be confident and accessible enough for people to come to me for answers or my leadership and in turn become  an online knowledge base for all those who come in contact with me or my different web sites.  I know that there is no real point contacting a person who has reached ou to met if I am not confident in what I have to say and how I can help each person achieve what they are looking for in their lives.  And these people need to be confident in me and what I have to offer.  So can you build your confidence online in what you have to offer.  I think … definitely!

Building your knowledge, and getting out there and doing what you have never done before is certainly one of the best ways to build you confidence levels, and in turn people become confident in you and what you have to sell or say or both.  Never built a blog or web site before?   Go out and give it a go yourself… build your confidence.  ‘Slow and sure wins the race!’  Need to be able to talk on the phone about your product or services?  Learn all there is about them, have them in use yourself, find others opinions and form your own.  Build your confidence in what you are doing and selling.  And if you want to build your confidence within yourself, go and do something that scares you.  Small steps… Say if you are fearful of public speaking, begin with holding a conversation around the dinner table at friends, ask questions at training sessions, even online training sessions.  As you slowly build your confidence in speaking with others around and listening you will soon become immune to your fear of public speaking and just take that final step and do it.  Conquer the fear and shoot yourself in the arm with a huge dose of confidence.  You will feel and see and hear the difference it makes to you.  Others around you as well will notice your new found confidence and with this you will feel even more confident.  I guess you can call it a flow on effect.

Go out and be confident in what you are doing or saying or both.  While you work diligently online, be a confident beam of light with knowledge and willingness to share your knowledge.  Always work on your confidence and building it.  Continue to push yourself with new tasks, especially the ones that you are unsure of or fearful of and conquer them.   I also keep myself busy online.  Writing blog posts and being very visible on the internet is one of the fear factors I have built up my confidence with, and continue to work on.  If asked a year ago do you think you would write a blog post on the net, I would have very quickly answered no!… but things change and confidence is a big factor.  Be confident people, trust in your abilities and do what you have always dreamed about.

‘Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. ‘

Vision Boards – THEY WORK!!!

‘When you change your intentions and your thoughts, you change your reality and your destiny’

- Patrick Combs

Hi there all! To to all I hope you are well.  I have just had an epiphany that I would like to share with you all, and hope that I can help you get to know the Law of Attraction as I see it working for me.  I have posted earlier about my encounters with out comes in my life from looking at it from a Law of Attraction point of view and it has continually made me think.  Not only to change how I think, and ask for things or focus on what I want, but to also know exactly what it is I am asking or attracting into my life.

Since beginning my new found love of working online with my home business with LifePath Unlimited, I also have had a vision board and various pieces of stick-on notes throughout my home office. Why?  Basic answer… The more you think and visualise exactly what it is you want from life, or what your goals are to achieve, the more the universe/life will point you to where you need to be to reach your goals when you are to reach them.  My vision board hangs in my home office, and I will admit, I do not always focus heaps of attention on it (and I keep adding to it as well…).  But it is there, I know it by heart and when I do look at it I know that I am sending the positive vibrations that the universe needs to continue to help me work and gain my rewards what ever they are and when ever they will be put in front of me.  My, light bulb moment to things working and moving and shaking with the Law of Attraction and visual aids, has come from the last day and the events that have taken place.  SERIOUS!!!  I have needed and debated and tossed and turned over moving forward with my home business and positioning myself at the final level of LifePath Unlimited to gain full use of the superb compensation available.  I also want to attend the BreakThrough event which is happening early next year and also see some of the U.S at the same time.  My very first international trip… but how?  That is what  I scribbled on a sticky note and put in front of my vision on my computer to look at every day, while I work my home business, and let the universe help me get to this goal – How can I get to BreakThrough and the U.S?

Ask & You will Receive

Ask & You will Receive

Within the last days I have managed to make my final business decision to fully position myself within LifePath Unlimited, and be approached with travel opportunity which will move me faster than lightning to getting myself on my 1st ever international trip and the next BreakThrough event with LifePath Unlimited early next year.  Lucky I organised my passport!!!

The Law of Attraction works and visualisation is the best of the best aids to keep you positive and radiating the ‘good vibrations’ needed to get you moving to the goals you set yourself.  To think if I was still working for an employer, making them rich, I would not be encountering the richness of life and a little further down the track the richness of financial independence.  Be grateful for the small wins and all the good in your day, even what could be seen as a negative can be the positive you have needed to point you in the right direction.  Being grateful everything helps so much in in maintaining the positive vibrations that the Law of Attraction and the universe love to work with.  So I give the task of creating your very own vision board filled with the goals you would like to achieve, it doesn’t matter what, and work at being positive, visualising being and doing everything and anything to reach those goals and enjoying the fruits of your and the universes labour. Do not worry what others might say or think… this is YOU – Be happy to know that you going and getting what it is you want and in the end you will, Live YOUR Life NOW!!!

Quotes – Inspiration, Motivation & Smiles

by on Aug.19, 2009, under Personal Development

Quotes are, in my opinion, have always been a big way to provide insight, motivation and even inspiration to everyone.  I have always enjoyed finding the best quotes to follow up my thoughts at the particular time that I use them.  In my personal development and even to help maintain my motivation for my home business, I am often reading many great quotes from all over the Internet and from some of the great books I can source from those people around me. I am also very fortunate and grateful that I have some excellent luminaries with Life Path Unlimited who have great insight and motivation.  Just listening and reading some of the quotes from the ‘Discovery’ series provided some mind opening moments for me and how I think and live from day to day.  I just love QUOTES!!!  What about you?Ross Lookout

Quotes have many ways of application and adaption to what you want to use them for.  I use quotes from all sorts of categories for all sorts of reasons.  I have a healthy sense of humor so I am always on the lookout for quick light hearted quotes or sayings as well to balance the inspirational and motivational.  Everyone uses quotes or sayings at different times for different reasons, but everyone can relate to those which touch the heart or mind.  I think this is the key to the many words that have been written by the many respected and many anonymous thinkers that have or are walking the earth.  Quotes to me have many times help shift my mindset from many situations.  Obviously the fun and humorous ones bring the smile and laughter, and laughter is the best medicine remember. And I have always tried to find the best quotes for particular situations and have found many that I will use over and over in many situations.  I would like to share some of my favourites with you and encourage you to use them yourself or even add your own in the comments section below.  There are many many quote sites on the Internet and some of the below will link back to these sites, which I am very grateful and happy to have found.  Enjoy some of my favourites below and don’t be afraid to add your own or contact me with your favorites or favourite quote sites.

Law of Attraction & MslilPeta Issue – 1

by on Aug.05, 2009, under Personal Development

I actually have been looking back at the past 3 months which has encompassed having many things change in my life. As I look back and from the amount of reading and studying I am doing on Law of Attraction, I have noticed that many of the things that have happened, good and bad, have come from the way I carried myself, talked to others and even thought. Not just on a day to day basis but also hour to hour!! So, if you asked me do I think that there is something about the practice of thinking positive, being positive and seeing your results, and you asked me right now, I would have to say definitely there is something to it!!

Barron Falls - attraction

One of my favourite pieces of information from the reading and completing of my ‘Discovery’ (as part of my Life Path Unlimited Discovery Series),course is that the universe, God, your spirit guides or how ever you explain and whoever you ask is that between positive or negative, the universe knows no difference. What do I mean!!?? Well from what I have seen happen to myself and from what I discovered from my study is that what ever you put out into the ‘cosmos’ positive or negative the universe will endevour to provide. The universe doesn’t know what is good or bad for you and will not sit back and say ‘hang on a tick are you sure that is what you want?’, it does as it is told and starts the ball rolling to provide the finish that which is started. Be it a mere thought, and mostly it is the mere thought, it starts what I call the chain reaction which leads us to the end result. I will be honest with you, I have seen this work in BOTH ways, positive and negative, in the last 3 months of which I have been pondering over the last few days. I was made redundant from a well paid management job, this happened the day I returned from a weeks holiday away. During this time away, all I did was worry if I had a job to go back to and I even said as much to closer friends and relatives and guess what, all I did was get the ball rolling for losing my job!!! In hindsight it is the best thing to have happened to me as I am certainly less stressed and enjoying my new venture of self discovery and working from home, but it just goes to show that the universe will provide for you, but, it doesn’t know good from bad. It just listens to what you put out there!! Don’t worry I have had some positives happen in the last 3 months as well and I know that with my studies and adjustment to my ways of thinking more positives will unfold before me.

Well there you have it, what I have been pondering over the last few days. I am no expert, but I can speak from what I have experienced. There are many many sites out there that have information and interesting reads about the Law of Attraction. I do post a few links on Twitter which can help you if you want to get out there and learn more or find others opinions.

Enjoy what is left of this week and I hope you enjoy the weekend to come, and what I have shared.

Cheers for now and Enjoy Life!!
