Offline Marketing

Offline Marketing

‘If you want success, then do not rely on other people to do what YOU can do’

- Sasha Azevedo

Working a home business or 2, especially online with all the different formats available certainly helps us as entrepreneurs.  But, maybe we could get our ideas, business or message to more people.  Those who don’t know yet that they need a change in their lives or want to subsidize their income or even challenge themselves doing something different like an online home business and attraction/network marketing, or just blogging a message that will no doubt help someone somewhere.  In a previous post, I talked about attraction marketing and using the great exposure that social media and articles can and do give to everyone involved with getting their message out there and branding themselves as some one of high value and even trust.  But what else can you do to add to exposure and bring more people into your circle of online friends and/or business downline.

No matter what type of business or product/ service anyone has… even something like a garage sale, some form of marketing is the key to gaining the biggest success.  So what other types of marketing can we a blogger or home business person or anyone do to spread the word and advertise our great product and/or finacial gain.  I have recently taken to offline marketing to co-inside with my online presence as I want to reach out to a local audience, and also am looking at lower costs in marketing while my businesses continue in their growth stage.  Most people have done some sort of offline marketing to some extent before.  And in some some sense I am not going to give you a heap of new ideas, but as an entrepreneur, one must compete on the same playing field, find new ways and stand out from the crowd.  I have started my offline marketing simply with the use of flyers.  Both for letter box dropping (which doubles as a workout for the day :) ), and ‘tear off’ flyers which can be posted at most shops and community

notice boards.  This is a great place to start, and has seen interest generated for my main marketing promotion for my second business.  In fact within 1 day I had an inquiry from a ‘tear off’ flyer.  So rest assured people DO read and seek information off line.   I try to make sure that the person reading it is made to think about their current situation and if they have thought to change this situation, and where they can go or contact me to find outmore or DO something to make the changes in their life that they may be seeking.

Of course you will have your own ideas on what you want to say or how you want to market your opportunity, but I guess what I am looking for are the people who have asked themselves before ‘is there a better way?’, ‘I want to live life… how can I do that?’.  Even with offline marketing , I still have online web addresses as people today like to see what you are talking about, and find out information for themselves.  They feel less pressure.  Of course some people prefer to hear from the ‘horses mouth’ so to speak and will ring you or email you straight up, so of course be prepared for this, know your product/service, but also have your questioning ready for the person who has contacted you.

Word of mouth is also a great vehicle for marketing and is the cheapest – FREE – and easiest for of marketing you can do for yourself and indeed for your business or blog, charity or group.  When you have a conversation with someone, especially someone you have just met or haven’t seen for a long while some of the questions you are asked include what are you doing with yourself these days? … and what work are you doing?  How do you answer… what do you say?  Well firstly with the truth, but also in a way that you are not selling what you are doing.  This can put off even the ‘bestest’ of friends and new associates.  Why not put a new spin on it, a lot of people out there are pretty set in their thinking about working from home.  Lets be real, a  lot of people do at times look at you as if you have 2 heads, and begin to get nervous that you are going to hound them until they buy something or sign up.  I had this experience the other day.  You will not and can not sell or talk to anyone, especially those who build brick walls in front of you straight after you answer their question.  But on the other hand how can you pass on the message about something that could change someones life.  A great opportunity kept a secret isn’t so great if people do not know about it! “If people do not know about a product, service or opportunity, they will not ‘buy’ it”.  A bit of a catch 22, but you can tell people about your opportunity, service or blog without alienating them and losing friends.

So what is the new spin?  When someone asked what you are doing or where you are working why not have an answer that you have thought about.  Why did YOU start a home business or blogging, what was the reasoning for you choice or did you have a problem you wanted fixing?  Work on an answer for this pivotal question.  Have 2 or 3 different responses for differing situations.  And get the person asking the question thinking…  You should not even have to state what products or opportunities you have in your answer and if the person wants to know more GREAT!  An example might be – “You know how everyone seems to be talking about the global financial crisis lately… well I help people to find a way to become more financially and personally secure, and in time help change their financial or personal situation from crisis to comfortable, all from home online…” This is a simple example, but I think you will get the idea.  You haven’t pushed anything onto the person you are talking to and they want to know more that is up to them.  And if they are asking the questions THEY want to know more, and are therefore more willing to listen to more information about what you do.

So what other ideas are out there other than just talking to people or letterbox dropping etc.  Well I guess in some instances the ‘sky’s the limit’, what do you think will

Offline Marketing Ideas

Offline Marketing Ideas

work for you.  Some ideas can be web addresses painted/sticker-ed on your car, business cards, ‘sky writing’  (te he he… but it is used), t-shirts or other apparel, sponsoring events or local functions, newspaper ads, bumper stickers, fridge magnets and so on… I guess it is up to the imagination to how far and what type of offline marketing you can do for your business  or service.  I have touched on what I do, and which is cost effective for me and my offline marketing.  Have a go and market your service, opportunity or blog offline as well.

Statistics for your website

“It is proven that the celebration of birthdays is healthy. Statistics show that those people who celebrate the most birthdays become the oldest.”

Hi there all!  I have been busy with my home business and haven’t posted for a day or 2 or 3, but that is changing right now….  :)   If you visit my site now and again, and thankyou if you do and even if you don’t, you may have noticed that I have a little stats box now on my pages.  If you didn’t notice that is ok too…  it is not a huge widget!

I am always intregued, and of course want to know, how many and when and where people visit my home home business blog.  Kind of so I don’t feel left out… no not really, mainly because I like to know that I could be helping someone out there.  This little stats box has confirmed that I do have a visit to my site and not always by ME…. LOL…   You may notice that the widget has a G logo and that is because I am using the F.R.E.E service from ‘Go Stats’.  You can click on the widget to go to their site and check it out… and if you like it sign up for the free option.  This little gadget, and remember it is the free option, gives me stats on number of hits and visits, times, countries and even browser types…. heaps of information from my back office at ‘Go Stats’.  You even get a weekly email with weekly month and all time results… what more could you want.  Especially when I am very much driven by increasing numbers of visits or hits… Love IT!

So if you are like me, or even if you are not…. and like to have some statistics for your site, and is easy to set up cut and paste some code, visit ‘Go stats’ and see what they have to offer.

This is truly a great business tool and an easy way to take my online home business anywhere anytime in lew of my laptop… Or sharing information from the couch while relaxing for the night.

If you are considering a new phone/ online business tool that is even more portable than your laptop, you could do worse than my favourite portable device… iPhone 3G.

Tweet’n on Twitter – Cheap Cheeps!

by on Sep.07, 2009, under Being Online Hints & Tips Blog

Tweet'n on Twitter - Cheap Cheeps

Tweet'n on Twitter - Cheap Cheeps

Hi there folks and welcome to the MslilPeta Cheap Cheeps for Twitter.  I am going to let you know some of the Cheap (FREE) ways that I have and do some Cheeping (Tweets) on Twitter and some other things as well.  Below is some of the methods I found and use with very good success.  At the end I will post the links for you to go forth and Cheep CHEAP!!!

Having a home business, and certainly in the first months as you setup, and get accustomed to what you are doing, needing to do, and the self education in many and varied things to do.  While you diving head first into web pages and Social media etc, you  probably will always keep one eye on your budget and money expenditure, whist trying to maximize everything that you are doing.  Correct? Well I did, and still do, why spend more than you really need to?  You can spend al-sorts of money on all types of software or programs to do things for you when you can also get free versions which give pretty much the same results.

Today I am going to talk about you and your Twitter account.  I have said previous that your Social Media presence on the web is very important, fun, but important to help your attraction marketing.  Twitter is a great location for building your presence and sharing your content or the content you found useful from others.  I am not talking about sell sell sell here, I have said before that is bad form, but you do want to share what you are doing in your blogs, vlogs or articles and other general information to help build a following.  Of course you want to be able to tell everyone following you what is going on as cheaply as possible as well as building your following as cheaply as possible and even making your Twitter profile page your own.  I will also give you some ideas to help you gain on Twitter on Auto pilot.  You will have new followers every morning, you can advertise you other social medias sites while you enjoy coffee with friends and you can follow others while relaxing on the beach on a Sunday afternoon (well any day of the week you have a home business!!!)

Once you have setup you Twitter account, make sure you take the time to upload a profile picture, and fill out the short bio as well.  Add in your web site of choice, it can be your business landing page, but I use my personal website, and complete anything else for your profile page.  One of the easiest way to show followers that you do care is to change how your profile page looks.  Twitter has some templates which are a great start, but there are free sites that can also do the same and you can set these up to a look that you like.  Of course there are sites out there that you join and pay for professional site building, don’t let me stop you, but I have used a free site and have had many good comments on the look of my profile – suits me!!

Now that you have set up you will start tweeting, and yes I do manual tweets, it keeps the site real and I like the personal touch, but I do also have a couple of free applications that tweet for me automatically, day and night.   The first is mainly set up as an advertising application,  which I use it to advertise my different sites on the web and some of my affiliate programs.  It is completely free to use, but you do have to set up all your ads.  I log into this site once a week and go through all my ads and delete sent ads and set up another weeks or 2 weeks worth or Tweeting.  This can take a little of your time, but once set – forget for a week or 2 until you need to set new ads.  The application is very easy to use and also has analytics for your ads as well to see how they perform.  My other auto pilot application tweets up to date information straight from the web at times and from sources I have set up.  You can also set up to have your blog and any new posts Tweeted through this feed.  A great way to tweet good content and create a following is to use this feed into Twitter.  You will also need to be a member of a URL shortening application site.  Remembering that Twitter is a short message service so you don’t want super long URL’s being cut off or your message not understood as you ran out of space.  And if a lot of your Tweets are on auto Pilot you may not realise the messages are not getting through properly.  Ok now we have some tweeting happening on auto pilot and for no setup or on going costs – I like it!

Followers and you following others is the next step.  You need to follow others as well as have followers yourself.  On Twitter twist is that if you gain to mainly followers too quickly and you are not following back they can and have suspended accounts.  We don’t want that.  The best thing to remember, especially for your first 2000 followers is to keep followers and following as close together as possible and even follow a few more than are following you.  It is also important to keep up with Tweets as well.  Being on auto pilot will help, but be part of the show and Tweet during the day as well.  Quick tip favourite your tweets that you know you will use often like links to your sites and blogs, and any tweets from others you follow that you can RT (Re-Tweet).  Once you have a favourites list just cut and past Tweets – quick, easy, genuine, FREE, Tweeting.  One of the easiest ways to get followers and find people to follow is to be a member of the Twitter Yellow pages – Twellow.  All you have to do here is join the site and set up your profile as you like and join 10 of the groups that you are interested in so people can find you.  You also go through these groups of interest to you and find people for you to follow.  You can also tweet from Twellow that you are a member to tell people on Twitter.  To also find people to follow and in turn they should follow you is Twollo.  A FREE twitter follower finder.  Twollo will find people who tweet what ever keywords you ask it to look for… simple.  Once your account is setup just work through and list some of the keywords for Twollo to look out for and should be all go.

http://twittertise.com/ – Free advertising and future Tweeting – + analytics

http://bit.ly/ – URL shortener – + analytics

These will give a great base to get started as a Twitter user and mostly on autopilot as you set up as needed.

I hope I have given you a good insight and some help to get your Twitter account up and running and running when you are not even there to do it.  Best things to remember is to follow others as they follow you, as long as they are in your interest(s) groups.  RT (RE-Tweet) good information from others as part of content and relationship building.  RT from blogs you visit with information that helps you or you find good, including this one if it helps you and can help others.  Make sure you have a URL shortening application to bring your URL’s down to small size to make sure your Tweets stay at 140 characters and can be fully understood by those following you.

Enjoy Tweeting on Twitter and Cheeping on the Cheap!!

Attraction Marketing Part II

by on Aug.31, 2009, under Being Online Hints & Tips Blog

Part two of attraction marketing is just that – Attraction marketing.  From Attraction marketing part one we learned that attraction can also be defined as pull, so we effectively are going to pull our genuine leads or customers to us rather than use chasing them.  One of the more effective ways of creating that pull or making yourself an attraction, or become a knowledge target as it were, by creating a presence online, with valuable insights, articles or the like about your passions and your passions for the ideas behind your product or item.

Become a Knowledge Target - Attraction Marketing

Become a Knowledge Target - Attraction Marketing

How are you going to be a presence, and a respected one at that?  Easy…. hmmm…. Well if you think about it, it can be.  What you are reading right now is some of what I have and am continuing to do to create a strong and respected presence on the internet.  You guessed it, information and/or teaching.  I like to be called a tutor rather than a teacher as I am continuing to  learn and gather knowledge so I think tutor fits me better.  But it is the same idea.  People, your soon to be leads, are looking for information and want to learn and be guided.  Lets face it… I have had to learn a lot, and thus searched for the information and guides to give me a rough path to follow so I can create my own presence and in turn create attraction marketing.

“Prospects and customers flock to those who demonstrate that they’re knowledgeable about a subject” . . . “Teaching Sells – The only way to get attention and make yourself stand out, is to take on the role of trusted adviser” -   Ann Sieg

So what I am trying to get at is, get yourself out there, on the internet as best you can where ever you can.  One of the best places to start is with social media.  From my earlier Blog entry on this site about Social Media -

“ Social media is fun, but its biggest factor is the sharing of relevant content to your niche market or interests.  If you can create valuable content, from your own research or using other peoples sites with links and so on, your followers will find you as a person of authority and in time trust and best of all, buy from you as they see fit.”

Social Media - Fun & Attraction Marketing Tool

Social Media - Fun & Attraction Marketing Tool

So you can start there, and become some who follows others who have a presence and some great content, and whist you are doing this you will be ever learning and experiencing  yourself to start creating your own content and in time become an authority or a presence who people start to follow and look to guidance.  And of course you will also generate leads for business because you have the means to build that all important rapport and respect before moving to close your sale.

Get your content OUT THERE!

Get your content OUT THERE!

So what about content, now the fun begins.  As well as following others and learning what you can, document what you learn, tell people what you have done to get a result.  Tell people why you like a certain marketing strategy.  Tell people what they may already know, but in a fashion that appeals to them.  Tell and teach people anything and everything that can be valuable alongside you and your ultimate goal.  Write articles, build a knowledge base website, Blog, write a lens or 10 on Squidoo… just go for it!  I can hear it now, I don’t know what to write or say…!  Well maybe not, but again I

Your Message Here!

Your Message Here!

can be honest with you and say that I didn’t know what to say to start with either, but here you are reading an article from what I have learned all from the internet and liaising with my business team.  Obviously don’t go out and steal someone else’s work, lets be fair they have had to do what you are doing now, but get out there and write, have a say.  Your message will reach the targets it is meant to reach and will reward you.  There are many ‘free’ options on the net to start documenting your knowledge and experience, eg Squidoo, YouTube (do a video if you like talking better), Ezine, Blog sites and so on.  You can also link in people you have found to give you information, within most of the above listed sites, so people can read your opinion and that of other sources as well.  It all helps and it helps each and everyone of us by sharing, comparing and acknowledging.

The main influences for me, both for gain more knowledge and for the shear fact that they share great content and ideas include; Katie Freiling, Ann Sieg,  Mike Klingler,  Jimmy D Brown, and  Julia Stege.  I have opted into these peoples newsletters and receive much information, and heaps of tips and hints to get out there and be the presence, knowledgeable presence, on the internet to build my business.  And guess what, I am now one of the attraction marketing leads that these people have worked towards, which is the goal we are aiming for.  People hungry for information or products that you have, opting in to your web site or lead capture page without you having to make them.

Well, in a nut shell, here is my formula for becoming your own ‘Pied Piper’ of the internet.  Create, read, link and learn all you can, and then share what you have learned and done so that even more people will do the same. These people are being attracted to you through your new process of attraction marketing, and as such you are building your business with genuine, “I want what you have”, leads and sales.

The time is now – Go For It!  Most of all Have Fun, Work Smarter, and don’t work Harder! – Attract those leads you are waiting for!

Online on the RUN….

by on Aug.26, 2009, under Being Online Hints & Tips Blog

Online Mobility = Which Mobile Phone?

In this truly mobile age, it can be to your advantage to make sure your presence online is continued even while you are on the run and out and about.  Of course an ever increasing percentage of the population now opt for notebook computers, which can and do have the capabilities to connect most places, but what about you mobile phone?  Today I am going to introduce my thoughts on which mobile phone I use for my online blogging and presence needs and also let you know of some other good options that are available as well.  The mobile phone can be one of your most valuable tools for you as it allows you to be available when you are not at your computer, and this is certainly an advantage to you and your friends, colleges or new contacts.

Now I am not here to sell you a mobile phone.  Yes I did work for a telecommunications company so I can give an insight, but I am here to tell you mainly about my choice of mobile phone and why.  First things to consider, if and when it is time to upgrade to a new phone is what you already use, like and dislike.  Do your research, honestly!  If you can go confidently into a mobile phone outlet and know something about the phone or phones you are interested in you can make your experience a little easier.  Of course, the sales staff should know their stuff and be able to take you through features etc, but it is always good to know what you want prior so you don’t walk out with someone else perceived idea of what you want.  Know what you want from a phone, what you mainly are going to use it for and any added features if any to enhance you home business mobility and ease of operation.  The best option, in my mind, is a ‘smart-phone’.  My definition of a ‘smart-phone’ is that of a phone and office capabilities all in the palm of your hand.  See Wikipedia for a standard definition.  Of course what do you choose.  Again it is personal preference.  Most smart-phones will run using a ‘Windows’ based software system or are capable to run such.  ‘Blackberry’ and ‘iPhone’ on the other hand run using their own operating system, but can be configured or software added to help read ‘Windows’ based files. SO… What did I choose?  Long story short – iPhone -  LOVE IT!  I was not going to get and iPhone at first as I was totally captivated with the ‘Blackberry’ Bold and then Storm, but I know for me, I made the right decision.

I guess in the end my choice of the iPhone boiled down to the fact that, other than huge internal machine issues, I could fix trouble shooting problems.  I helped out many a customer while in telecommunications.  And I also chose the iPhone as I find it most reliable, easy to use, capable of Wi-Fi and Network internet connection (most phones can these days) and the range of ‘Apps’ available for it not just for being online or blogging and the like, but pretty much everything.  Don’t worry I like some of the entertainment and game Apps available and I will go through and let you know my favorites in a later post.  But for online and keeping up your presence, I have found some great apps that can make being online, away from home for a day or two good to keep in touch with EVERYONE and ANYONE.  I also can keep up my social media presence on Twitter, Face-book, Word Press, Skype and YouTube.  All these sites are at the core of my blog and sharing with you my reader, and my online presence and content building.  Other great apps or applications that I have at my finger tips include XE currency converter, Google Maps (great for that business trip away and getting to your meetings without the ‘I’m Lost Issues’), Weather, File Storage, iGoogle and a marketing blog and article site from Marketing Profs.  I have some screen shots below of a few apps that I use to show their interface.

All apps are available at the iTunes application store, made available by Apple inc.  The apps store is also easy to use with search options or browse option throughout whole store or with categories.  Plus if you hear of a great app from a friend and you are out and about you can download straight to the phone, as long as you have an iTunes account, and then back-up to your computer at a later time.  Most apps also go through upgrades from time to time and again these are just a matter for checking for the update and then downloading the required.  These updates are usually FREE.  If you also look around and find apps you like, some companies or producers also do a ‘Lite’ version of the app at a low or free price to see if you like the app or while it is in production for full app.  I myself use some free versions of apps and find that they are sufficient for the job at hand without having to upgrade to the full version.

Well there is a quick rap-up of my thoughts on a mobile option for your online presence.  Again, as the phone user, you must go with what you are comfortable with or find to be the best fit from research you do.  I love the iPhone, but of course it may not be for everyone, but I hope I have given a good insight into why it is what I need to keep online and mobile while staying connected with my home business.  For brilliant research and phone comparisons visit GSM Areana.  This is a great site I have used a lot, especially while in the telecommunications industry to help fit the right phone with the customer.  I hope you enjoy this post, as always love to hear comments or if I can help with some answers if you have questions.
