What is your story, or your business or brands story?
Telling your story and sharing your continued story or business growth, good times, great customer stories, charity or work, or anything that you or your business is doing is some of the best content and ideas for sharing over your social media channels. Coming up with content to use over your various social media channels at times can be hard to come by or become a bit passé. But if you are eagerly giving customers or fans plenty of engaging photos, posts, videos and more about what is going on with you and your business and almost anything else going on in your business world, you are giving so much value to your fans and perspective customers.
So what is your story or value content that you can use or have available? Your fans want to know about you and your business. They have liked your Facebook page for a reason, or similarity they retweeted a tweet by your business because it resonated with them or they like your product or idea. But, again, what are you going to use as part of your online content to tell your story?
Believe it or not, what you post and advertise on social media, you shouldn’t be just selling you product or service ad nauseum. Customers and fans alike, with so much information at their fingertips, want more and look for more. What do you do when you have an interest? You look for like minded people and as much information as you can. And in today’s world you look online. Perhaps you love coffee (I do!!) so on Instagram you find and follow cafes or coffee specific quote feeds and so on. You want to know more, but may not be ready to make a purchase or anything at that exact moment. The same is for when you look for a new product or service. Do you do a bit of research and due diligence about services available? Do you check out Facebook pages or Google reviews for feedback from other people? Do you like to know more about a product, service or business before finally making a purchase? In most cases I think we all do. And social media, across many of the social platforms, can help you build a reputation, strong brand name and more, just by sharing your story, what your staff are up to, work completed for customers, off topic fun and even hints and tips, without expecting sales in return. The sales and new customer sign ups will come as you give and share openly and provide simple answers to simple questions and also show a human side to your business. It actually is almost lots of giving and then when the time is right… receiving.
Another part of you and your business online story and content sharing is the Thank you! This can be a significant and mighty piece of content or story to share. But is not just saying thanks at the point of sale. It is the follow up with specific customers, via social media and even publicly in posts, which can continue to tell your story and how much you value your customers. It is also the thanking new followers on Facebook or Twitter as they are part of your online community (even if they have not made a purchase) and people you want to keep engaging with your channels and in turn getting their friends or followers interested and following too. It is also the follow up and thanks to those who may not be 100% happy. It is communicating openly with these customers or prospective customers that will also tell people about you and your business and how you will win back business or exceed expectations.
So to put all this in a nutshell. Your story, is plenty of posts, photos, videos and more about you and your business, the staff that help make it happen, providing hint or tips or value content at no obligation, answering questions and criticism and saying Thank You to customers and fans alike. Be creative, think outside the box, even check out similar products and services to see what they are doing (or even just any businesses with large engaging followings) to gain ideas on how to tell your story online via social media.
