It’s hardly a fad. In fact, the skeptics from dot com boom bust are seeing digital media being the way to go. It’s really a no brainer when you think about how much more you can accomplish at a significantly lower cost. Budgets for interactive marketing will increase by shifting money away from traditional marketing. Only 7% said they have no plans to increase their marketing budget. And remember think about this which I have thought of since the beginning of social network marketing; hand held wireless technology is easily going to change the way we do business today. This will be immeasurable and I’ll wager there will be some pretty savvy people in today’s market that will be totally lost when this takes off. There may be a few survivors from the newspaper industry but they’re done. Some of the larger ones are thinking in terms of the Internet to keep their paper alive but will that work? I don’t think so. I’ll go straight to CNN, MSNBC, FOX… but will people go to a specific online newspaper? I just don’t think so. Here’s a link to a great sight that is covering this topic with different slants. I think you may like it.
